Making Horror

Welcome to Making Horror in RPG Maker. This is a completely free series of videos on my YouTube channel that dives less on hand holding tutorials, and more on concepts to remind, inspire, or innovate ideas of horror.

Best with RMMZ & RMMV but supportive of all other versions of RPG Maker via syntax.

Three Horrors in a Hallway

This video below looks at three easy and often used scares in RM Horror games. Although they may seem as cliché, they are plenty effective when used correctly.

Paid Content

The tips and code are completely free as they are both on YouTube and all explained/shown within the videos. The paid content is for those of you who would like to support both me and this series or are just looking to own the project for yourself. As a thank you, you may download the game project I used and all its custom assets, if any. Be sure to watch the end of the video to know what you'll be receiving. All my custom graphics are free to use however you like, so as long as they are acquired through my official online media sites such as itch.io. For more detail, please see the Term of Use within the game file. Also included will be a quick video guide on how to navigate the files given to you. Thank you! 😊

The purchasable download is an RMMZ game project.

Do you make characters using RTP or some other tool?

For this, the character was made with the built-in character generator (so technically yes RTP). The tilesets, on the other hand, were created using Asesprite.
